This little one-minute video was our submission for the TSB Good Start Grant. We didn't get it, but the video does a good job describing what we do.
If this looks scary, just remember we have one goal - to increase your chances of success.
We don't create hurdles. The hurdles are already there - we just show you where they are. And as often as not, they are actually springboards for those who have the right attitude...
We created our game IP Snap to test the UVP (Unique Value Proposition) that you submit to describe your idea and the opportunity it presents. We race the clock to find evidence of previous solutions to see their impact on the value of the opportunity (improving your odds immensely).
It doesn't take an idea to get a new business started. In fact, you might be better off without one! If you have identified a problem, there is a good chance that others have felt that same pain, and they might need it solved for them, which means ... opportunity.
Got a problem? Let us help you find solutions!
Unless you are working at the absolute cutting-edge in your particular technical field, it is highly unlikely that you have an idea that is totally new, and remember, our challenge is not whether or not the idea is a GOOD idea, just how new it is. This means that we can narrow our scope to the just the facts and exclude opinion, including yours (soz).
Perhaps you don't know if you can trust us with your idea. This means that you think your idea is truly novel. You might be right - some part of your idea may be novel. That's why we created Reverso. In Reverso, we don't actually announce the Idea in the Show, we only reveal the problem and a few hints, and try and figure out what the state of the art is for solving the problem. If we figure out what you are doing, then nothing new was revealed, because all we discuss is past evidence. If we don't, you will be a bit more confident that you are on to something. And the audience learns cool stuff! WIN WIN WIN!!
This is not just a service, and it's not just a show. Under it all is a mission, and we want you to join us as we democratise ideas for a healthier, happier, and unified NZ. Please read, commit, and sign our Charter.
Not all ideas will be featured in the Show. If yours is selected, you can expect a light-hearted grilling (check your ego at the door, we are here to talk facts), but also to learn heaps and increase your chance of success, whether that looks like a pivot, a fresh start, or pedal-to-the-medal development.
You can participate anonymously, and you don't have to speak on the show if you don't want to. Anyone, anywhere, of any age is encouraged to participate.
Who we are is not important. Anybody could (and should) do what we do. But we have done some other interesting stuff, so if you are curious about the Invented Again team, check us out.
We are certainly not the only ones who use this approach, nor are we alone in seeing the problems with typical approaches to R&D funding and investment. But don't take just our word for it, see for yourself.
